Dr. Zack Bein is a psychologist, and the Founder of the Adult Attachment Program. He is trained in and oversees the administration and scoring of the Adult Attachment Interview and relies heavily on Brown & Elliot’s “Three Pillar” model of repairing attachment difficulties, which includes the Ideal Parent Figure method. He has also been practicing and studying meditation for 20 years.

Dr. Zack Bein is a psychologist in the Dan Brown/David Elliott lineage of clinicians who believe strongly in the “3 pillar” approach to healing relational difficulty in adults. After many years of talk therapy (I’d rather not admit how long and how much money was spent), I found myself still quite anxious most of the time, uncomfortable in social situations, unsure of myself and confused about the authentic “me.”

Soon after I engulfed myself in Three Pillars attachment work, first as a patient. All of my seeking through doctoral studies, therapy, meditation, seclusion, it all began to integrate in some beautiful way. Rather than looking outside of myself of for someone or something to fix me, I was encouraged to look inward. All the things I’d learned ceased to be objects that I could only grasp at haphazardly. They became like extra limbs…. So intricately and complexly woven together, each part relying on the other. Not codependence, but interdependence. Regardless whether you decide to pursue work in adult attachment or not, my wish for you is that you find what you are looking for, at last.

My previous research at the University of California, Berkeley was on schizophrenia, examining the relationship between memory, emotions, and negative symptoms.

I have extensive experience conducting individual, group, and family therapy, and administering a variety of assessment measures. My approach to therapy is integrative, considering elements from a variety of theories and modalities, as well as evidence-based practices. Some of these include Attachment Theory, mindfulness-based interventions, Humanistic/Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Seeking Safety, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Three Pillars therapy and the Ideal Parent Figure (IPF) Protocol.

I’m trained in administering the Adult Attachment Interview, the gold standard assessment of attachment styles in adults.

I also work with clients or patients on a one-on-one basis using a mentorship model. I assist them in their goals with meditation and help in any way the student sees fit. The unique and flexible mentoring model is effective for beginners, intermediate, or advanced students.
